1903: Willem Grasso dies on 1 March 1903.
1910: First ammonia compressor is made in Grasso's factory.
1911: Grasso starts with the production of refrigeration drums
1913: Grasso moves back to 's-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands in a new modern factory with an
area of some 33.000 m2. They stop the production of butter/margarine machines and continue
only with the production of compressors for the refrigeration industry. The first own built
horizontal compressor is sold.
1930: The rotating blade compressor developed.
1937: Due to the economic crisis, the amount of employees falls back to 50 people and the factory is
taken over by the three Van Heijst brothers from The Hague.
1947: Leo van Heijst introduces the unique welded steel crankcase of the compressors.
1944: Henri Grasso dies at the age of 80. The factory is almost completely destroyed during World War
II so that business comes to a standstill. After the war, the Grasso factory is soon rebuilt, up-to-
date machinery is installed and work on an extensive production scheme, aimed especially at the
export market, is started.
1949: Start with factory of pneumatic tools in the Hague, The Netherlands, later named N.V. N.A.M.I. in
Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
